Happy New Year, and welcome to the spring 2025 semester! I hope you all enjoyed the holiday season and the well-deserved time off to relax and spend time with loved ones.
Welcome to the 2024-2025 academic year and fall 2024 semester. I know the summer months can look different for us all, but I hope you had some time to rest, relax, and recharge. With yet another exciting year ahead, we will continue to work together towards achieving your educational goals.
This year we are celebrating MSJC's 60th anniversary. This year's theme is A Legacy of Transformation. Your accomplishments and the work we do here at MSJC to help you transform your lives gives me immense pride and gratitude. We are here to help you reach your educational goals and to inspire you to build your own legacy.
Welcoming you whether you are returning or new to MSJC
The holidays are fast approaching, we've nearly reached the end of yet another calendar year, and you are completing your finals here at Mt. San Jacinto College. I want to encourage each of you to continue to work hard to accomplish your educational goals and finish the year strong.
As we approach the end of the 2022-2023 academic year, I want to share my observations of you, our Mt. San Jacinto College students. You are determined, creative and bright. You have truly made a difference on our campuses and in shaping your own futures and I thank you for choosing MSJC to achieve your educational goals.
April is an exciting month at Mt. San Jacinto College. We are celebrating Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month, Arab American Heritage Month, and Black Student Success Week (BSSW), which begins next week. I encourage each of you to participate in the many events offered at MSJC.
We at Mt. San Jacinto College are proudly committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility. Please visit the Call to Action page to learn more about the initiatives designed to eradicate racism in this college district and ensure we provide the support our Black and African American students need.
The senseless shooting on Saturday during the Lunar New Year celebration in Monterey Park, CA has left us devastated. The Lunar New Year is a holiday that represents so much to the communities we support and serve. The day is meant to be filled with hope, positivity, and is designed to bring family, friends, and communities together. This tragedy hits close to home, as we were shocked to learn the suspect was from Hemet. We mourn alongside our APIDA students, faculty, staff, and community and we ask you to join us in keeping the victims, their families and community in our thoughts.
The Spring semester is an especially exciting time. There are many activities through our Student Government Association, Club Rush and plenty of athletic and performing arts events.
Twenty-one people - 19 of them children - were murdered yesterday. Their promising lives ended by a gunman who barged into their school and opened fire. Three other children are in critical condition. We pray for their recovery. We pray for those who were senselessly murdered.
As the invasion of Ukraine continues, we at Mt. San Jacinto College send our support for those fighting to preserve freedom, democracy, and sovereignty in their country.
The start of the Fall 2021 semester at MSJC is less than a week away and we are excited to see you again, whether you are coming onto one of our Mt. San Jacinto College campuses or joining us online.
