MSJC Presidential Search Update: Dr. Dotson announced as MSJC's 8th Superintendent/President
April 23, 2026
MSJC Community,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it is my great pleasure to announce that the Board
has voted to extend an offer of employment to Dr. Tawny Dotson as the next Superintendent/President of the Mt. San Jacinto Community College District.
Throughout this process, my guiding philosophy has been evolution, not revolution.
In Dr. Dotson, we have found the ideal complement to the exceptional legacy built
by Dr. Roger Schultz and the entire MSJC community over the past nearly two decades.
Dr. Dotson brings a distinguished record of leadership in California’s community college
system and beyond, and we are confident that her unique talents, vision, and student-centered
approach will carry the outstanding work already done here to new levels of excellence.
This outcome was made possible through a transparent and inclusive search process,
guided by our ACCT consultant, Pamila Fisher, and thoughtfully coordinated by search
liaison Jacqua Morrison. The Board is extremely grateful to the 16-member search committee
representing every corner of our community, including the student body, faculty, administration,
classified and confidential staff, and members of the public. We deeply appreciate
the extraordinary time, care, and dedication each member brought to this important
work.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to the broader MSJC community for your engagement
throughout this process. From attending forums and reviewing progress updates to providing
thoughtful feedback, your participation played a meaningful role in informing the
Board’s decision.
The future of MSJC is very bright, and we look forward to welcoming Dr. Dotson to
our college family.
Sincerely,
Tom Ashley, President
Board of Trustees
Mt. San Jacinto College
