Transcripts

Official transcripts are the permanent academic record of a student’s coursework completed at a college or university. Mt. San Jacinto College only accepts transfer credit from U.S. colleges and universities with regional accreditation. For additional information about accreditation or to verify a school’s accreditation status, visit the U.S. Department of Education.

Parchment is the official transcript ordering service partner for Mt. San Jacinto College. Students may submit official transcript requests online through a secure website 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Parchment

Transcript requests are submitted online through Parchment. Transcript orders may be sent electronically or mailed. Additional fees may apply for mailed delivery/postage and expedited processing or shipping options.

Students will receive regular email updates regarding the status of their order and may also track their request directly through their Parchment account. Optional text message notifications are also available.

CSU GE Certification

The CSU GE Certification is intended for students transferring to a California State University campus.

IGETC Certification

The IGETC Certification is intended for students transferring to a University of California campus.

Cal-GETC Certification

The Cal-GETC Certification is the new singular lower-division general education pathway for students transferring to both the California State University and University of California systems. Cal-GETC replaces the previous CSU GE and IGETC patterns for students beginning under the new requirements.

Students may request CSU GE, IGETC, and/or Cal-GETC Certification while placing their transcript order through Parchment.

If requesting a certification, please allow up to 5 business days for processing. Once completed, the certification will be attached to the transcript order and sent electronically with the official transcript request.

Exception: The University of California, San Diego does not accept electronically attached certifications. If your transcript is being sent to UC San Diego and includes a CSU GE, IGETC, or Cal-GETC Certification, the certification will be mailed separately through the U.S. Postal Service.

Transfer students should submit a Request for Evaluation to receive a full review of transferable coursework that may be applied toward a degree or certificate at Mt. San Jacinto College.

Transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing college/university or approved transcript vendor. Transcripts submitted or forwarded by students will be considered unofficial.

Once transcripts are received, please allow approximately 5–7 business days for processing and posting to the student record.

Current students may access and view their unofficial transcripts through their Mt. San Jacinto College Self-Service account by following the steps below:

  1. Log in to your MSJC Self-Service account.

  2. Under Academic Records, select Unofficial Transcript

Students who no longer have access to their MSJC Self-Service account are encouraged to reapply for admission to regain access to online student services and records.

Official transcripts submitted to Mt. San Jacinto College are not automatically evaluated toward a student’s educational goal. Students requesting an official review of transferable coursework toward a degree or certificate must submit a Request for Evaluation.

Please allow approximately 4-6 weeks for transcript evaluations to be completed.

Important Information

  • Applicable test scores and official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities must be received and on file at Mt. San Jacinto College prior to submitting a Request for Evaluation.
  • Students will receive an email notification from the Evaluation team once the transcript evaluation has been completed.
  • Students are encouraged to meet with a Counselor after the evaluation is completed to review evaluated coursework and develop an education plan.

Students who have satisfactorily completed coursework from a foreign accredited institution may be eligible to apply those credits toward a degree or certificate at Mt. San Jacinto College.

Foreign transcripts must first be evaluated by an approved credential evaluation agency before they can be considered for use toward degree or certificate requirements. The official evaluation must then be submitted to Enrollment Services.

Students are strongly encouraged to meet with a Counselor before requesting a foreign transcript evaluation to determine whether the evaluation is necessary for their educational goal.

Approved Evaluation Services

Students requesting evaluation of foreign coursework must obtain a comprehensive evaluation through an approved transcript evaluation agency. For a list of approved services, visit:

Important Information

  • Submission of foreign transcripts is optional; however, evaluated coursework may be used to satisfy degree or certificate requirements.
  • Students must request a comprehensive evaluation that includes both lower-division and upper-division coursework. Other types of evaluations will not be accepted.
  • After the evaluation is completed, students must submit the official evaluation to Enrollment Services and submit a Request for Evaluation to have coursework reviewed and applied toward their academic record.
  • All official transcripts and evaluation documents must be on file prior to submitting a Request for Evaluation.
  • Submission of transcripts and evaluation documents is permanent and cannot be revoked.

Additional Information

Credits awarded through a foreign credential evaluation are counted as earned credits only. Grade point averages (GPA) from foreign institutions are not included on the Mt. San Jacinto College academic transcript.
