To support a safe work environment, Mt. San Jacinto College has a comprehensive Injury Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP).

"There were 4,764 fatal work injuries recorded in the United States in 2020, a 10.7-percent decrease from 5,333 in 2019. The fatal work injury rate was 3.4 fatalities per 100,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) workers, down from 3.5 per 100,000 FTE in 2019. Private industry employers reported 2.7 million nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses in 2020, down from 2.8 million in 2019, a decrease of 5.7 percent. In 2020, the incidence rate of total recordable cases (TRC) in private industry was 2.7 cases per 100 full-time equivalent (FTE) workers"

The total cost of work injuries in 2020 was $163.9 billion. This figure includes wage and productivity losses of $44.8 billion, medical expenses of $34.9 billion, and administrative expenses of $61.0 billion."
