MSJC Welcomes New Student Trustee: Samantha Cardenas

On Thursday, June 13, 2024, the Mt. San Jacinto Community College District proudly welcomed Samantha Cardenas as the new student trustee. Samantha steps into this role following the graduation of her predecessor, Joseph Awad. Superintendent/President Dr. Roger Schultz administered the Oath of Office during the board meeting.

Grad Story: Elba Irene Blanco

Elba "Irene" Blanco didn't let a challenge stand in her way. She came to the United States five years ago, unable to speak English. To learn English, she enrolled in English as a Second Language classes at MSJC. Her counselors in the ESL program motivated her to keep going and enroll in credit classes. She had the desire to pursue a career in the medical field. Despite warnings it would be tough, she enrolled in prerequisite math and science courses and graduated with a 4.0 GPA.

Grad Story: Isabel and Gabriel Bugarin

In a heartwarming display of determination, perseverance, support, and love, a mother and son duo achieved a significant milestone by graduating together. Isabel and Gabriel Bugarin are walking today, both receiving associate degrees. Isabel's began her journey at MSJC in 1999 but didn't last long. During the pandemic, access to online education motivated her to explore opportunities and she re-enrolled. "I'm glad we have online classes. With my family, I'm able to work on my schoolwork on my time and focus on kids without having the stress of going to class."

San Jacinto College/MSJC) and the San Jacinto Unified School District (SJUSD) are excited to announce a partnership to launch the San Jacinto Middle College High School, a program that is intended to provide a seamless pathway for students from high school to community college.

Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) was the recipient of two significant grants focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). The California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office awarded MSJC the Native American Student Support and Success Program (NASSSP) grant and the Culturally Responsive Pedagogy & Practices; Innovative Best Practices (CRPP IBP) grant.

MSJC TRIO Hosts Celebration for High School Graduates

Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) hosted its 20th annual TRIO Upward Bound and Talent Search graduation ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the program's high school seniors on Saturday, April 29. More than 100 students and their families attended the TRIO Senior Recognition Celebration at the San Jacinto Campus library.
