Paramedic Academy Program

Program Start: Fall 2025

Location: Menifee Valley Campus

The Paramedic Academy classes will be held at the Menifee Valley Campus


Application Submission and Deadlines:

The application period for the Fall program is April 15 to June 15. Applications will be available during the application period on the website- Emergency Medical Services | Mt. San Jacinto College. Applications must be submitted by the deadline of June 15th in order to attend the mandatory orientation. Applications are required to be submitted via electronic by emailing to paramedicacademy@msjc.edu   or hand delivered to the Nursing and Allied Health Office, Menifee Valley Campus, Bldg. 500 during normal business hours (Monday-Thursday, 8:00A – 5:00P).

Mandatory Orientation and Prep Class

A completed paramedic application must be on file and positive attendance at the orientation must occur to pre-register for the mandatory paramedic prep class.

  • Mandatory orientation for the paramedic program will be on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 11:00AM – 1:00PM
  • Mandatory prep class will be held Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays beginning July 17th – August 1st. Class times are from 9:00AM – 6:00PM.
  • Anticipated Paramedic Program start date – August 2025.

Application Requirements

To be considered complete, the application must include copies of the following:

  1. Official transcripts of all schools previously attended.
  2. Current EMT-I card. EMT-I must remain current throughout the program.
  3. Current CPR card. CPR card must be American Heart Association "Healthcare Provider Level."
  4. Verification of High School Diploma or GED.
  5. Verification of age (at least 18 years old). A driver’s license is acceptable.
  6. Attach a 2” x 2” size picture to application. (this is the size of a passport picture).
  • Documentation from current and/or previous employer(s) verifying six-month full-time experience or 1,000 hours of part time work experience as an EMT. At least 50% of this experience must be in the pre-hospital setting.  Work experience can be either paid or volunteer experience. The letter(s) must be on official letterhead and signed by an official from those agencies. It needs to list the start date, and the total hours worked. If part-time, the monthly or yearly call volume of the area served must also be included. This letter is not a letter of recommendation; it is a verification of experience.

Recommendations

We have found that students completing the following classes are more successful in the program. While we do not require completion of these courses prior to acceptance into the program, we understand that these courses enhance foundational understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and biology related to disease/ injury processes encountered in prehospital care.

  • ENG-1A English Composition
  • Medical Terminology
  • Anat 101 and 102 or equivalent

Program Outcomes

To prepare Paramedics who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession.
