MSJC Nursing Faculty Participate in “Stop the Bleed” Training to Strengthen Emergency Preparedness

2/10/2026

Nursing faculty at Mt. San Jacinto College participated in a Stop the Bleed training, reinforcing the college’s commitment to hands-on, life-saving education and community preparedness.

The training was supported by Kim Smith, who presented Stop the Bleed kits to the Nursing Department. The initiative was further strengthened through collaboration with Jill Eaton, the new Foundation Director at Riverside University Health System Foundation, highlighting the strong partnership between MSJC and regional health leaders.

Funding for the Stop the Bleed program was awarded through Inland SoCal United Way via the Riverside County Nonprofit Assistance Fund. Approximately $3,500 from the grant was utilized by the Riverside University Health System trauma team to support Stop the Bleed training efforts throughout Riverside County. Grant funds were used to purchase training stations, persona kits, and educational materials essential for delivering effective instruction.

The Stop the Bleed course equips participants with critical, life-saving skills to respond to severe bleeding emergencies, empowering individuals to act quickly and confidently in high-risk situations before professional medical help arrives.
