MSJC Expands Eagles Landing Food Pantry Efforts to Support Students Amid Rising Food Insecurity

11/3/2025

In response to the growing challenges facing students and community members experiencing food insecurity, MSJC is expanding its support through its Eagles Landing food pantry.

The college has begun proactively distributing grocery bags to students and launched a non-perishable food drive across all three campuses. The drive invites MSJC faculty, staff, and students to join the effort to supplement the services of the Food 4 Thought campus pantries and help alleviate pressure on local community food resources.

“These are times of rising need and wavering external supports,” said Dr. Roger Schultz, MSJC Superintendent/President. “Our priority is clear: we navigate this situation as a community, identifying the gaps and stepping in to support all students affected — one student, one bag, one donation at a time.”

The initiative responds to the ripple effects of statewide delays in food-assistance benefits, which have strained households and regional food banks. By enhancing on-campus support and increasing awareness of local resources, MSJC aims to ensure that students have access to nutritious food while continuing their studies.

“Every little effort counts,” said Lisa Campbell, Associate Dean of Student Services. “We are deeply grateful for both the big and small donations that help us serve our students in need. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.”

Through this expanded outreach, we can ensure that no student has to choose between basic needs and academic success.
