MSJC Celebrates Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Graduates
Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) celebrated eight graduates who completed the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program this year, earning their associate degrees. The graduates were recognized during a Pinning Ceremony on May 22, 2019.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program prepares students to work in an ultrasound department performing abdomen, superficial structural, gynecology, and obstetric ultrasound exams. Students practice ultrasound scanning skills with equipment in the campus lab and are required to complete an internship at an affiliated medical center. The program works with local agencies to ensure students are provided on-the-job training with licensed sonographers.
The ceremony also recognized three clinics and their representatives for their partnership and service to the MSJC DMS Program. Service plaques in appreciation of 12 years of support and dedication were presented to Tammy Wiggins, Imaging Manager from Rancho Springs Medical Center; Tara Cauthron, Imaging Manager from Redlands Community Hospital; and Clifford Asburry, Imaging Manager from Desert Regional Medical Center.
“We have been honored to partner with such patient-centered hospitals,” said Crystal Nasio, Ed.D., interim associate dean of Nursing and Allied Health. “MSJC Diagnostic Medical Sonography students learn side by side with our community’s best technicians. This legacy of partnership is extraordinary and noteworthy. Thank you to our hospital partners for assisting in the education and preparation of our students for the sonography field.”
