HBCU Caravan Stops at MSJC Menifee Valley Campus to Celebrate a Decade of Transfer Opportunities and Student Success

10/30/2025

Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) proudly hosted a vibrant stop of the 2025 HBCU Transfer Caravan on Monday, October 27, at its Menifee Valley Campus, welcoming students eager to explore transfer opportunities to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) nationwide.

The event—part of the 10th anniversary celebration of the California Community Colleges to HBCU Transfer Guarantee Program—was a resounding success, drawing enthusiastic participation from students, counselors, and representatives from dozens of HBCUs. Attendees engaged in one-on-one conversations with admissions officers, learned about scholarships, and even received on-the-spot admission offers to participating universities.

Since its creation in 2014, the HBCU Transfer Guarantee Program has opened doors for thousands of California community college students to pursue bachelor's degrees at partner HBCUs across the nation. This year's Caravan, which runs October 26 through November 7, marks a milestone decade of partnership and progress—bringing together 38 participating HBCUs and countless success stories that demonstrate the power of accessible higher education.

MSJC's stop was among the most well-attended of the tour, following the Caravan's kickoff at HBCU Day in the Park on October 26 and stops at Palomar College, El Camino College, and others throughout the state.

The Menifee Valley Campus transformed into a dynamic transfer fair buzzing with excitement, conversation, and community pride. Students met with university representatives from across the country—including Howard University, Tuskegee University, and Spelman College—and learned how the transfer guarantee program provides a streamlined pathway for California community college students to earn their degrees at these historic institutions.

MSJC counselors and Student Services teams were on hand to guide students through the application process, ensuring they understood the academic and financial benefits of the HBCU partnership. The event also featured informational booths, music, and giveaways, creating a festive yet informative atmosphere.

Part of a Larger Movement: The ICanGoToCollege.com campaign, led by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office, supported the tour with on-site outreach, statewide promotion, and radio coverage through iHeartMedia. This partnership amplified the program's reach, ensuring that students throughout California were aware of the life-changing transfer opportunities available to them.

As the Caravan continues its journey through colleges across California—including Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, Bakersfield College, and American River College—MSJC's successful event stands as a shining example of how equity, access, and opportunity come together to transform lives.
