Board and EC Highlights

May 2026

Superintendent/President & Executive Cabinet

May was filled with student-centered events, celebrations, and milestones across the district. I encourage you to explore the MSJC News webpage to see the many ways our students, faculty, and staff continue to make us proud.

On May 8, we hosted our annual Employee Recognition and Appreciation Event. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating our dedicated employees, years of service recipients, and employees of the Year. Special thanks to the Board of Trustees for their continued recognition of our faculty and staff, and to Trustees Smith, Ashley, and Carpenter for attending this special event. Check out the photos!

We concluded the academic year with our greatest celebration of all—Commencement. Over two days and four ceremonies, we recognized more than 3,881 degrees and certificates earned by our students. This remarkable achievement represents more than double the number of awards conferred during my early years as Superintendent/President. As my final commencement at MSJC, I was overwhelmed with pride, gratitude, and admiration for our students and all who helped them reach this milestone.

Board of Trustees

During the May Board meeting, trustees received a presentation from Student Government Association leadership highlighting their accomplishments and contributions throughout the academic year.

The Board also recognized Student Trustee Claudia Walukouw for her outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to representing and supporting MSJC students during the 2025–2026 academic year.

On May 30, MSJC staff joined Trustee Brian Sylva in participating in the annual Beaumont Cherry Festival Parade, continuing the college's strong tradition of community engagement and partnership.
