March/April 2026
Superintendent/President
Throughout the months of March and early April, I joined our team in meeting with federal and state legislators and/or their delegates to advance the University Center project, a critical step in expanding opportunities for our students and community.
On March 6, I was honored to participate in Hemet USD's Principal for a Day, continuing our strong partnership with local K–12 education.
I also hosted my final Pizza with the President in partnership with the Office of Latinx Affairs on March 9. Time spent listening to and connecting with students remains among the most meaningful experiences as an educational leader.

On March 27, Schultz' Eagles Nest Speakeasy event brought many of us and those from our extended community together for a memorable evening of reflection and gratitude. I am deeply appreciative of the support shown, with proceeds benefiting both my retirement legacy fund and the University Center project.
As I conclude my tenure at MSJC, it has been especially meaningful to visit each campus during the Final Farewell Tour and appreciation events. I am grateful for the opportunity to personally thank you for the care, commitment, and heart you bring to MSJC.

April has also been filled with student celebrations and events across the district—powerful reminders of why we do this work. I encourage you to visit MSJC News to see these moments in action.
Executive Cabinet
On March 2, MSJC was well represented at the IEDRC AI University Seminar, engaging in important conversations about the evolving role of artificial intelligence in education.

On March 19, our Outreach team hosted the Annual K–12 Summit, strengthening our partnerships and supporting dual enrollment opportunities for students across our region.

We continue to make strong progress in faculty hiring, with final interviews underway for full-time positions for the 2026–2027 academic year. There will be many great new hires to welcome to the MSJC family in the fall.
Board of Trustees
On March 4, Trustee Brian Sylva joined staff at the Riverside County Office of Education's State of Education presentation, representing MSJC in key regional conversations.
In March, the Board of Trustees completed its required Ethics in Public Service training, reaffirming its commitment to responsible governance.
On April 10, the Board held a special meeting for their annual retreat, focused on planning, goal setting, and continued alignment in support of the district's future.
Student Trustee Claudia Walukouw hosted three Tea with the Student Trustee events across all campuses, creating opportunities for students to connect, ask questions, and learn more about the Student Government Association and the role of the Student Trustee.

During a special meeting on April 23, the Board of Trustees voted to appoint Dr. Tawny Dotson as MSJC's next Superintendent/President. The Board is confident in the leadership ahead and looks forward to a smooth and successful transition.
