Superintendent/President & Executive Cabinet
I was pleased to kick off the semester with a welcome-back video and a series of events hosted by our incredible Student Life and Development team. Connecting with students across the District and sharing in the excitement of their return to campus was a wonderful way to begin the academic year.
August was a month of many firsts for me at MSJC. I met with College Council, participated
in an Academic Senate Town Hall, attended MSJC’s annual Athletics Forum at the San Jacinto Campus, and participated in my first Board of Trustees meeting.
Each opportunity provided another meaningful way to learn, listen, and connect with
our college community.
On Wednesday, August 5, I joined the Board of Trustees and more than 80 community members for a Meet & Greet Breakfast hosted by the MSJC Foundation. It was wonderful to connect with supporters from throughout our service area and hear firsthand about the impact of MSJC’s partnerships across the region.
Campus Open House Meet & Greets also gave me the opportunity to spend time with faculty
and staff throughout the District. I am grateful to everyone who stopped by, introduced
themselves, and shared more about their work and experiences at MSJC.
Finally, nearly 200 employees participated in listening sessions to help shape the
leadership profile for our Vice President of Student Services recruitment. The thoughtful
input and strong participation provided valuable insight as we move forward with this
important search.
Executive Cabinet
Faculty Convocation on August 7 brought colleagues together to reconnect, collaborate with their departments, explore valuable resources, and prepare for the 2026-27 academic year.
MSJC has also partnered with the California Community Colleges to participate in Accessibility Capability Maturity Model (ACMM) training in support of the revised ADA Title II requirements. This work will help strengthen accessibility across District processes, resources, and services.
Board of Trustees
On August 8, Trustee Brian Sylva and the Director of Native American Student Support Services, Cuauhtli Ramos represented MSJC at the Dorothy Ramon Learning Center’s annual Dragonfly Gala at the Morongo Community Center, which included a special celebration of our region’s Native American languages.
The Board of Trustees also held a special meeting on August 13 to hear from Director of Government & Community Relations Jordan Wright and begin laying the groundwork for MSJC’s 2026-27 legislative priorities.
Trustee Jhalister Corona and Jordan Wright represented MSJC at the Perris Valley Chamber’s 113th Annual Installation Dinner on August 15 and the Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber Awards Celebration on August 29, continuing to strengthen connections with businesses and community leaders throughout our service area.
On Friday, August 21, Trustees Brian Sylva and Jhalister Corona joined Ernie the Eagle at Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium, where Ernie proudly represented MSJC by throwing out the first pitch.

I was also joined by Trustee Calvin Smith and MSJC colleagues at the SRCAR City Managers Breakfast on August 27, where we heard updates highlighting the communities of Hemet, San Jacinto, Beaumont, and Perris.
I am grateful to our Trustees and employees who make it a priority to represent MSJC throughout the region. These connections strengthen our understanding of the communities we serve and reinforce the partnerships that support our students and the District.
To close out the month, I participated in my first retreat with the Board of Trustees. The focused session created an opportunity to strengthen communication, establish shared expectations, and build a strong foundation for our work together in support of MSJC’s continued success.
