MSJC Athletics Opts in for Spring II Sports
Mt. San Jacinto College announced it is moving forward with Spring II sports starting in early April.
MSJC will compete in baseball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s golf during “Spring II” athletics season, as defined by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). Official practices for the teams can begin March 27 and competitions will begin April 10. These sports were unfortunately cut short last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am thrilled to announce we are bringing our student-athletes back for competition,” said Dr. Roger Schultz, MSJC’s Superintendent/President. “We know the closures of sports due to the pandemic really hit our students and our fans hard, but they are resilient and stood by patiently waiting for a safe return to sports.”
MSJC will adhere to State and CCCAA guidelines for a safe return to play and is working closely with health experts to ensure the safety of our student-athletes and staff.
“I am extremely proud to be part of this collaborative effort to support our student-athletes' return to competition for the Spring of 2021,” said MSJC Dean of Kinesiology and Athletics Patrick Springer. “The pandemic forced them to miss their 2020 season and the thought of them missing a second season motivated the MSJC team to work toward a timely, and most importantly, safe return to competition. We will continue to work as a team toward the return of our remaining six sports who are currently only participating in conditioning exercises.”
