Visible, But Do I Belong?

In this digital age, we can be visible to thousands and still wonder, "Do I belong here?"  We scroll, compare, perform, and quietly ask what we have to do to earn a place in spaces that seem to reward visibility more than connection. As a social media marketing and brand building instructor, LaTonya Washington sees an important direction: being visible online is not the same as belonging. Followers, likes, comments, and reach may tell us that people can see us, but they do not necessarily make us feel valued, included or connected.  This talk explores what it actually means to belong on social media and how digital spaces shape the way we see ourselves and one another. Drawing from her own experiences, classroom observations and professional work, LaTonya challenges us to reconsider what we are really seeking when we post, share, compare and connect.  Her central idea is simple: digital belonging begins when visibility becomes connection and people feel seen, heard and included.
