Dr. Daniel Lopez
Dr. Daniel López has over 30 years of higher education experience leading academic and student affairs units at public and private two-and four- year higher education institutions with a laser focus on student success. Dr. López is currently President of Harold Washington College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago.
Like so many community college students, Dr. López is an immigrant, non-native speaker, public schools graduate, first generation college student, and former undocumented student. His personal story of struggle, perseverance and resilience motivate him to continue to prepare and empower students to accomplish their academic and professional goals and become social justice advocates.
Dr. López is a proud community college graduate and holds an associate degree in liberal arts from Harold Washington College. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication from the University of Illinois at Springfield, a Master of Education from Loyola University Chicago, and a doctorate in higher education from Illinois State University.

Dr. López is currently Board President for the Illinois Latino Council in Higher Education (ILACHE), Board Vice Chair for the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), board member for LGBTQ Leaders in Higher Education, and Steering Committee member for Presidents Alliance for Immigration and Higher Education, and member of other state and national organizations.
