Bio:

Hi! Well, you know my name and, BTW, feel free to call me either Suzanne or Dr. Uhl. This is just a place to let you know a bit more about me.

I grew up in Escondido, went to Palomar college, transferred to SDSU where I graduated with a major in Speech Communication and a minor in Telecommunications & Film. Since I was clueless about what to do next, I enrolled in grad school. Since money was tight, I signed up to be a graduate teaching assistant. As a GTA, I began teaching the basic public speaking course and, within a week, I knew that teaching was what I was meant to do. After I finished my MA in SpeechComm, I taught part-time at many local universities and community colleges. So, I've been teaching since I was 23! I was hired full-time at MSJC, at Menifee, 20 years ago. I received my PhD in Communication Studies in 2006.

I teach public speaking, culture, media, survey, interpersonal, organizational and advanced public speaking. I teach online and face-to-face. I believe that improving your communication skills can truly make an enormous impact on your life. And what's not to love about college students?! So between the subject matter and the students, I absolutely love my job. 🙂

Outside of school, I'm a happily married mom of two young men who are growing up so fast (19 & 23). I've got two big dog children who give me many reasons to smile. I like to travel, hike, garden, & read. I have a great husband and terrific friends. I feel very centered with faith and family and am grateful for all I have. Life's never boring, never easy, and that's enough about me!
