Both Lady Eagle Golfers Qualify for Regionals

The Mt. San Jacinto College Women’s Golf Program, in only its first year, lands both Sophomore Kathryn New and Freshman Katelyn Hardy on the Foothill All-Conference Team following tKatelyn Hardyhe Foothill Conference Finals over the past two days. Additionally, both Lady Eagles qualified for the Southern California Regional next week at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills.

New, on the second day of the Conference Finals at Lake San Marcos Country Club, in San Marcos, hosted by the Palomar College Comets, burned through the front nine with a 1 over par 37 and finished with an 81 that improved upon her opening day scKathryn Newore by 8 strokes. New’s play throughout the season earned her First Team All-Conference honors with a 79½ average over 18 holes in conference play.

Hardy also burned through the front nine with a 37 on the second day of the Conference Finals and finished with an 87, which improved on her opening day score by 10 strokes. Hardy secured Second Team All-Conference honors with an 89½ average over 18 holes in conference play throughout the season and positioned herself as one of the top returning golfers in the Foothill Conference next Fall, 2010.

The top 6 individual scorers from the Southern California Regional, in addition to the top two teams, will advance next week to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Women’s Golf Championship at King’s Country Club in Hanford, California. Tee time at the Regional on Monday, November 9, 2009 is at 8:30 a.m. and at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
