The MSJC Four-Step Services DLO MOdel
Dialogue between administration, program leaders, and department faculty and staff is the basic, recurrent theme in the MSJC model. From identifying DLOs all the way to making changes to improve services for MSJC students, administration, program leaders, faculty, and staff discussion forms the heart of the process.
The DLO Four-step Process:
· Administration, program leaders, faculty, and staff who provide the services collaboratively review the departmental objectives and select major objectives that are truly indicative of student success.
· Administration, program leaders, faculty, and staff must determine how students can demonstrate their achievement of a DLO. The emphasis must be placed upon the integration of perspectives into a supportable set of shared expectations. Collaboratively, the department leadership, faculty, and staff determine what constitutes "high" performance, "adequate" performance, and "inadequate" performance.
· Administration, program leaders, faculty, and staff discuss the results of assessment, provide insights as to whether the expectations are being applied with general consistency, and determine whether the students are receiving services at the appropriate level and inappropriate numbers.
· Administration, program leaders, faculty, and staff develop plans to initiate change based on the findings.
