Senate Standing Committee:  Student Learning Outcomes

Charge: the committee serves to organize and oversee the college effort on student learning outcomes.  Although it reports to the [site councils and executive senate] it shall have the authority to represent the faculty before college committees and other college bodies with regard to processes for developing and integrating Student Learning Outcomes (and discipline/program learning outcomes and institutional learning outcomes) and a climate of evidence into MSJC programs and services staffed by faculty members.

Chair: Annually, the Senate shall appoint a Faculty Coordinator of Student Learning Outcomes from the ranks of fulltime tenured faculty.  The coordinator will chair the committee and report regularly to the Senate.

Membership: voting membership not to exceed ten faculty members, plus the chair (non-voting).  Two ex-officio members shall be appointed by administration.

The committee will represent the faculty of the college.  As such, its members will be, to the extent practical, representative of instructional and non-instructional faculty and of each of the campuses operated by the college. Two ex-officio administrative members will be appointed annually by the president of the college.
