I first remember having an interest in art during elementary school when a teacher asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. I readily answered “an artist”. I continued pursuing this interest and eventually went on to study studio art at LA City College. I assisted an artist on a mural in Los Angeles and collaborated with a larger group on a mural in the lobby of the LA Unemployment office. I studied illustration and graphic design at Pasadena City College and did freelance graphic design work in the garment district. There was a long period after this during which I was absorbed in raising and supporting my family doing things unrelated to art. In 2009 I came to Mt. San Jacinto College as a returning adult student. I volunteered in the Art Gallery and the Puente Club and in June 2010 participated in a Leadership conference at UC Riverside.
