PARKING FAQs

 


What are the parking rules on campus?

All portions of the California Vehicle Code are in effect for all moving and parked vehicles on campus at all times.


Are parking permits required for vehicles parked on the San Jacinto and Menifee Valley campus, and Temecula Education Complex?

Yes, all vehicles must bear a valid parking permit that must be clearly visible and properly displayed inside of the vehicle as follows:

  • Clearly visible on the front windshield, or
  • Guest or Special permits must be placed on the dash board and clearly visible to a College Police official.

How do I obtain a student parking permit?

Semester and daily permits are available.  Daily permits can be obtained at the parking permit meters located in the campus student parking lots (see campus maps).  Semester permits can be obtained online in Student EagleAdvisor, or in person in Enrollment Services. 

Semester parking permits are mailed, no exceptions.  When you purchase a semester parking permit, you are issued a temporary parking permit via Student EagleAdvisor.  Print and utilize the temporary parking permit until your permanent semester parking permit arrives in the mail.

 


 

How do I get a temporary parking permits

When you purchase a semester parking permit, you are issued a temporary parking permit via Student EagleAdvisor.  Access EagleAdvisor, print your temporary parking permit, and use your temporary parking permit until your semester parking permit arrives in the mail.

 


 

Where is the College Police Department located?

The main police office is located on the Menifee Valley Campus next to the flagpoles in building 1800, room 1804. On the San Jacinto Campus the police office is in building 750, room 756.


What is the phone number of the College Police Department?

SJC: (951) 487-3187 and MVC: (951) 639-5187. From on campus extensions, dial ext. 7777.


How much is a parking permit?

A Fall or Spring semester parking permit costs $34 per semester for each vehicle. Summer term parking permits cost $15.  The cost for a replacement of la lost parking permit is the same as the cost for the initial permit.

A daily parking permit is $2 and can be purchased at the parking permit meters located in the campus student parking lots (see campus maps). 


What if I park a vehicle on campus without a student parking permit?

All students are required to have a valid parking permit displayed in their vehicle.  If the permit is not displayed, you are subject to being issued a citation by the MSJC Police Department.


Can students park in visitor parking spaces?

No, student parking permits are not valid in visitor spaces.

 


 

Can students park in staff parking spaces?

No, students (including interns or student workers) are not permitted to park in staff parking spaces or staff parking lots. 


What if I purchase a new car or use another vehicle?

You can remove and place the decal in the new or other vehicle.  Parking permit decals may be difficult to remove once adhered, so exercise caution when moving the decal to another car.


What if my permit is damaged, lost, or stolen?

Damaged: Salvage what you can of the old permit and bring the pieces to the MSJC Police Department.  The police may authorize re-issuance.
  
Lost:  If you lose your permit, you must purchase another.

Stolen:  If your permit is stolen, bring the police report to the MSJC Police Department. The police may authorize re-issuance.

 


 

When are the parking regulations in effect?

The parking regulations are in effect when classes are in session Monday through Saturday. State traffic laws are in effect at all times.


Where may I park?

A student can park in any campus student parking lot, except in restricted spaces for posted as staff, visitor, disabled, or child development.


What is the cost for Motorcycles on campus?

Motorcycles must display a valid semester permit.  The motorcycle permit is not available online, you will need to have Enrollment Services assess the fees and then pick up the permit at the Cashier's Office.  Motorcycles must be parked in the spaces specifically marked for motorcycle parking.  Bicycles must be parked in bike racks.


Can MSJC police issue me a traffic ticket? 

The Mt. San Jacinto College police officers have the authority to issue traffic and parking citations where violations occur.

 


 

How do I pay my parking ticket?

Follow the instructions printed on the back of the parking citation.  Note that the MSJC Cashier's Office does not accept personal checks.  Payment by cash, money order, or cashier's check is accepted at the MSJC Cashier's Office on the Menifee Valley Campus building #100 and the San Jacinto Campus building #1150.


Are students subject to discipline for traffic violations on campus?

Yes, students may be subject to disciplinary action in cases of repeated violations.


Where do I pay or appear for a moving traffic violation, like speeding, failure to yield, etc.?

These types of citations are processed by the local judicial system.  The court locations are printed on the traffic violation.

 


 

Where do I go to dispute or appeal a citation I feel I don’t deserve?

Parking citations may be appealed at the College Police Department offices within the first 30 calendar days from the date of issuance. The criteria for dismissal is limited and generally based on administrative errors.

Can I get the fine waived if I purchase a semester parking permit?
