Lissette Castro, Spanish Department Chair, began training for an important fundraising triathlon in January. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society triathlon is scheduled for May 1, 2011, at Lake San Antonio in the Northern California community of Bradley. She’s got three months of hard work to get her physically prepared for the challenge and to reach her fundraising goal of $2,500.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services. The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has invested more than $550.8 million for research specifically targeting blood cancers.
