Last Year more 100 attended the 2009 Martin Luther King Unity Breakfast
More than 100 people attended the Mt. San Jacinto College Diversity Committee's 4th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Unity Breakfast and a 10th Anniversary Diversity Committee Celebration.
The free event was held on January 18th, 2010 at the MSJC San Jacinto Campus Library. Guests were treated to breakfast and performances by the Gospel Choir from Reconciliation Church, MSJC Dance Department dancers, Taiko drummers, Native American dancers and the Los Tigres Mariachis from San Jacinto High School. The appearance of the Los Tigres Mariachis was made possible by a grant from the MSJC Foundation.
Mike Madrigal, of the Human Relations Council and member of the MSJC Diversity Committee, and Dave Dorsey, manager of the Hemet Wal-Mart and member of the Central County United Way, received awards.
MSJC students Janelle Munoz and Mayra Rios won the won the MSJC MLK Day Art Contest and received scholarships.
Guest speakers included Pastor Charles Hentley, Reconciliation Church; MSJC Superintendent/President Roger Schultz and Dr. Bill Vincent, Vice-President of Student Services.
