HATE GROUPS INCREASE BY 54%

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s recently released annual count of hate groups documented 926 hate groups operating in the United States, representing a 54 percent increase since 2000. SPLC President Richard Cohen and Intelligence Project Director Mark Potok believe that the current state of the economy, immigration fears, and the election of President Obama have created a perfect storm for the growth of white supremacist groups.
